“The global system has started to lose all its credibility”

Speaking at a dinner held by the Turkish American National Steering Committee in New York, President Erdoğan said: “The global system has now started to lose all its efficiency and all its credibility. Institutions, whose duty is to ensure peace and security, are in a state of an obvious moral collapse. The massacre continuing in Gaza for 352 days has once again demonstrated this fact.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at a dinner held by the Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) in New York.
“TÜRKİYE IS ONE OF THE COUNTRIES THAT WAGE THE BIGGEST FIGHT AGAINST THE SCOURGE OF TERROR”
Stating that Türkiye is one of the countries that wage the biggest fight against the scourge of terror both on the ground and at the table, President Erdoğan said: “The support you as the Turkish community in America will provide to our fight against terrorist organizations, FETO and PKK in particular, is of critical importance. Members of terrorist organizations target not only our country’s interests, but also our citizens, their business ventures and nongovernmental organizations abroad as well. While they seek to generate interest by cramming American decision-makers and commercial circles with lies, they try to fuel divisions within the Turkish community. I expect you to be vigilant against terrorist organizations’ members, who voluntarily take roles in every anti-Türkiye operation. Just as we have not fallen for their games earlier, we will be very careful from now on as well. We will always continue our fight against these traitors, who have attempted to stage a coup against the will of the nation, have had our citizens’ blood on their hands, have threatened our democracy, peace, unity and solidarity, shortly whose sole purpose is to damage Türkiye and the Turkish nation, on legal platforms.”
“ISLAMOPHOBIA AND XENOPHOBIA HAVE EVOLVED INTO A MAJOR EPIDEMIC IN EUROPE”
President Erdoğan went on to say: “I would like to draw attention to one specific issue. Islamophobia and xenophobia have recently evolved into a major epidemic that threatens the peace of our citizens in Western countries, especially in Europe. An act of arson is conducted almost every day against our masjids, mosques and shops of Muslims. Ultra-rightist movements, too, target immigrants and Muslims. On the other hand, social media and some politicians promote, so to speak, the spread of racist hatred and fuel the fire. We as Türkiye closely follow the ultra-rightist movements and hate speeches in the countries our citizens live in. We argue that just like racism, Islamophobia should be classified as a crime and be subjected to legal sanctions.”
Drawing attention to the leading role Türkiye has played with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the United Nations designating March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, President Erdoğan added that the start of the preparations for the National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia in the U.S. last year in November has set out a good example of the pressure they are putting on Western countries to revise their legal and administrative regulations.
“GLOBAL ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS HAVE TAKEN NO EFFICIENT STEP TO STOP THE OPPRESSION IN GAZA”
Underscoring that several anti-Türkiye interest groups continue to pressurize the Congress, President Erdoğan noted that the politicization and exploitation by several lobbies of issues, which should be left to historians to decide, will not contribute to Turkish-American relations or the normalization works carried out by Türkiye and Armenia, and said: “The war in Ukraine, which is about to enter its third year, threatens regional and global stability. We have stressed since the very first day that diplomacy must be prioritized for lasting peace in the region. To be honest, we see each drop of blood and each day spent with conflicts as a great loss. With this understanding, we patiently maintain our efforts for the establishment of a just peace.”
President Erdoğan continued as follows: “The global system has now started to lose all its efficiency and all its credibility. Institutions, whose duty is to ensure peace and security, are in a state of an obvious moral collapse. The massacre continuing in Gaza for 352 days has once again demonstrated this fact.”
Pointing out that 30 years after Srebrenica, an extremely brutal genocide is being conducted this time in Gaza in front of the whole world, President Erdoğan stated: “1.9 million people have had to leave their homes so far. And these people struggle to survive by make doing with what is left in their hands in very harsh conditions with no infrastructure. Amid all these sufferings, unfortunately no noticeable response has been made except for those of a handful of bold people. Likewise, global organizations and institutions have taken no efficient step to stop the oppression in Gaza, or to prevent Israel’s massacres.”
“WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT IN ORDER FOR THIS POLICY OF OCCUPATION, INVASION AND MASSACRE TO IMMEDIATELY END”
Further stressing that the Israeli administration, which is awarded for every unlawful act it has committed, each time launches even bloodier, more inhumane and more unconscientious attacks, President Erdoğan continued as follows: “The genocide Israel has been conducting in the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, threatens the peace of our region as well. The recent attacks on Lebanon and the last statements made by Israel are obvious manifestations of the efforts to spread the war to the region. We as Türkiye are and will continue to make every effort in order for this policy of occupation, invasion and massacre to immediately end. We have not and will not remain silent to any attack against the sanctity and historical status of the al-Aqsa Mosque, our first kiblah.”
Noting that during all the bilateral meetings he will hold with leaders in the U.S. he will underline the necessity to increase the pressure on the Zionist Israel on every platform, President Erdoğan drew attention to the demonstrations staged in New York and other states by conscientious circles in order for the sufferings of the Palestinians to end and for the Palestinian people to attain their own state, and said: “Also, we follow with appreciation the activities you have carried out with Muslim Americans in Washington, New York, Boston and Chicago. I expect you to maintain your sensitivity on this issue. May my Lord bless anyone who becomes a voice of the oppressed people in Palestine.”
President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and First Lady Emine Erdoğan attended the dinner as well.
